Top 10 unconventional Christmas albums

With Thanksgiving now behind us, Christmas is just around the corner. The obvious conclusion is that we’re about to be bombarded with the age-old, standard, annoying commercially acceptable Christmas songs. Are you looking for something off the beaten path? Either to show off to your coworkers & colleagues, or to just experience something new, here is a list of my favorite unconventional Christmas albums!

  • 1.) Polkadot Cadaver; From Bethlehem to Oblivion

  • Track: 12 Days of Christmas, Repent!

    Released in 2013, From Bethlehem to Oblivion is the first EP and fourth release overall by Rockville, Maryland band Polkadot Cadaver.
  • 2.) New Kids on the Block; Merry, Merry Christmas

  • Track: Funky Funky Christmas

    Merry, Merry Christmas is the 3rd album by pop act New Kids on the Block, released in 1989. This holiday album features festive songs, both covering original works as well as new material from the group. Released at a time when the band was peaking, it went double platinum and spawned the top ten single, This One’s for the Children.

  • Track: I am Santa Clause

    Twisted Christmas is a humorous Christmas album recorded by Bob Rivers & his Comedy troop. This album is the first in a line of Christmas-themed parody albums from Rivers, with later entries including I Am Santa Claus, More Twisted Christmas, Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire, & White Trash Christmas.
  • 4.) Weird Al Yankovic; Polka Party!

  • Christmas at Ground Zero

    Polka Party! is the fourth studio album by “Weird Al” Yankovic, & was released in 1986 as a follow-up to Dare to Be Stupid. The album was produced by former The McCoys guitarist Rick Derringer.
